Post-it Note Holder

Here is a really cute way to dress up a Post-it Note pad.
Tools used here are: Blossom punch, Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, 3/4" circle punch, Cutter Kit, scissors. Stamp set: Mixed Bunch (Occasions Mini Catalog)
Start with a piece of cardstock  3 1/2" x 8". I used 'Pretty in Pink'. This will be your base. Score at 3 3/4", 4 1/4" and 4 3/4". Fold like so.

To cut the slits needed for your pen holder, fold the cardstock in half along the middle scored line. When you fold the top over the base will be wider

Cut 2 slits to the score line. I just eyeballed it. If you feel more comfortable marking yours first that's ok too!

Lay open your cardstock. Make sure your base (the section on the right) is the wider part. It should measure 3 3/4". Lay sticky strip on the areas shown. Do not place any sticky strip on the slit you cut.

Remove the backing from the tape and stick down as shown, popping out the part made by the slits.

Grab a Post-It note pad and lay a piece of sticky strip along the top of the back of the pad.

Remove the backing off the sticky strip and place the pad inside the holder. Line up against the left fold line.

Close the top and it should look like this.

Now to decorate the front. I used 1 piece of basic black cardstock cut at 2 1/2" x 2 3/4" and a piece of printed paper 2 3/8" x 2 5/8". I used First Edition Specialty DSP.

To distress the edges I used the 'Cutter Kit'. It's a fun little kit like a Swiss Army knife nearly. hehe. It includes a rotary cutter, perforating tool, scoring tool and 7 sided distressing tool. We are going to use the distressing tool which is the grey part. There is a blade inside each little notch. You just basically run your cardstock back and forth along one of the blades.

Your cardstock and paper will look something like this.

Adhere the printed paper onto the cardstock and then onto the front of your Post-it Note holder.

Time for punching. Punch one black flower from the 'Blossom' punch. In the 3rd position on the 'Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer' punch, punch out of Pretty in Pink cardstock.

Use stamp from the 'Mixed Bunch' stamp set (Occasions Mini Catalog) iwth basic black ink on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and punch with 3/4" circle punch. For the center of the flower I used a brad from the 'Antique Brads' collection.

Start building your flower. I used the Cutter Kit on the edges of the flower. On the black cardstock it nearly makes the edges look velvety I think. Adhere the pink flower and then the circle.

Use a paper piercing tool through the center of the flower to make it easier to add your brad.

Turn over the flower and add a couple 'Stampin' Dimensionals' either side of the brad.

Remove the backing from the Dimensionals and apply your flower to the front cover.

Slide a pen through the side slit and you are done!

I found this package of Mini G2 pens at Office Depot. You can get assorted colours too!

Of course the possibilities are endless on how you can decorate these.

And here is my friend's daughter Kaliyah proudly displaying hers using her favourite colours.

A Birthday Card for Lily

I made this card intended for my sweet niece Lily back home in Australia although I must get better about sending my cards out BEFORE their birthday.

To make this card you will need the 'Create a Cupcake' stamp set, the Cupcake Builder punch, Crumb Cake cardstock for your card base, Baja Breeze, Blushing Bride and Whisper White cardstock. For the paper ribbon strips I used the 'Twitterpated' designer series paper (DSP) from the Occasions Mini Catalog cut into various lengths at 1/2" wide. The bow is made from Baja Breeze Seam Binding attached with a glue dot. For the distressed look, I sponged all edges with Soft Suede. I love the distressed look if you couldn't tell by now.
To order any of the products needed for this card or any questions feel free to contact me or leave a comment.
Thank you.

Valentines Gift Card Holder Card

I made this card for hubby today. We aren't really into the whole Valentine's day thing so he thought we should just buy each other an Amazon gift card. Of course I had to make his prettier for giving.
Works for me!
I love the Sale-a-Bration DSP. I think I am going to need to stock up on it!

Marshmallow Treat Box

Tutorial by Michelle Andrews

All products used are from Stampin' Up!
The punches you will need are : 2 3/8" Scallop Circle, 1 3/4" scallop circle, 1 3/4" circle, 1 3/4" circle, 1' circle and the small heart punch.
Stamp set used is P.S. I love you.
Designer paper is 'Twitterpated'

To begin you will need 2 pieces of cardstock for the base of the box. I used Riding Hood Red.
Cut 1 @ 8 3/4 x 2 3/4 and 1 @ 5 1/4 x 4 1/4

Score the first piece at 4" and 4 3/4" along the 8 3/4n side
For the second piece score  the 5 1/4 side at 1/2", 1 1/4", 4' and 4 3/4.
Turn 90 degrees and score at 1/2" and 1 1/4". You should have score lines on 3 sides.

Next cut the 3 scored squares at the bottom of the second piece like so

Cut along the 2 lines designated here in black and use a 1 3/4 circle punch where shown.

For the scallop edge you will need a piece of co-ordinating cardstock. I used Baja Breeze here.
punch your circle in the middle and make sure to leave enough room around the edges for the scallop punch.

Using a 2 3/8" Scallop circle punch, turn your punch upside down and slide the cardstock into the punch. This makes it easy to see where you are going to punch. Once you have it centered punch it out.

Use glue or adhesive to attach to the 2nd piece of the box. Distress first if so desired. I used a sponge dabbed in Soft Suede for all my distressing in this project.

Add sticky stripe or strong adhesive tape to outside edges and squares as shown. Put aside while we work on the front.

You will need 1 piece of patterned paper cut at 2" x 3 1/4" and one piece of cardstock cut at 2 1/4" x 3 1/2". The patterned paper I used is from the 'Twitterpated' designer series pack from the Occasions Mini Catalog. The co-ordinated cardstock shown here is Baja Breeze. Distress if desired.

Layer and adhere as shown.

To build the next part, punch a 1 3/4" scallop circle and small heart from Riding Hood Red. Both stamps are from  the P.S. I love you set.  Stamp a Baja breeze piece of cardstock with Early Expresso ink, and stamp the other on whisper white. Punch the baja breeze piece with 1 3/8" circle punch and the whisper white with a 1" circle punch. Use technique used earlier for punch accuracy.

Distress each piece of desired. Adhere pieces together to stack.

Add a Rhinestone and set aside.

Adding the ribbon. I used Pear Pizzazz Seam binding cut at 15". Line up cardstock on grid paper, lay the ribbon 3/4" from the edge of the cardstock. Use 2 pieces of Stampin Dimensions on either side of the ribbon. I used the outside edge giving me a straight edge along the ribbon if that makes sense. Try not to stick the dimensionals actually on the ribbon in case you need to adjust the ribbon to tie the bow later on.

Remove backing off of the dimensionals and attach the scallop design. Set aside.

Going back to our 2nd piece, fold all score lines. Remove the backing off the sticky strip on the 2 square pieces only. Ones marked with the 'X' below.

Fold tabs into the middle making your box like so.

Remove the bottom edge tape backing first and fold the 2 sides in adhering at the corners. Then remove the backing off the sides. All sides should be sticky now.

The easiest way I found to attach the 2 pieces is to stick down the lower edge side first while holding the top part up. Then slide your hand into the box and press down on each side one at a time. I hope this makes sense.

All you need to do now is to add your candy. If using the Russel Stover Marshmallow Hearts like I did, I found it sat better if you fold the bottom part of the wrapper under to give it a flatter bottom. Fold over the top flap and tie your ribbon and you are done. :)

If you have access to the retired set "Filled with Love" it makes a cute center with the 'Feb 14' stamp. :)
